ABI TUTORING
Terms & Conditions
Last updated: [April 2026]

By enrolling your child for tuition with Abi Tutoring, you agree to the following terms and conditions. Please read them carefully and contact me if you have any questions before your child’s first session.

1. Tuition Structure & Commitment
Tuition is organised in half-termly blocks, typically lasting 5–7 weeks in line with the school term calendar. Each block is confirmed in advance, and by enrolling your child you are committing to the full block.

If you wish to discontinue tuition, please provide a minimum of 2 weeks’ written notice by WhatsApp before the start of the next block.

A regular weekly slot is reserved exclusively for your child. This means that other enquiries for that time are turned away, which is why the commitment and notice period are important.

2. Fees & Payment
Session fees are confirmed at the time of enrolment and will be communicated before the start of each block.

  • Payment due: In full at the beginning of each month or by the date stated on the invoice.

If payment is not received within 7 days of the due date, sessions may be paused until the balance is cleared. Persistent non-payment may result in the tuition place being released.

Fees may be reviewed periodically. You will be given at least one full block’s notice of any fee changes.

3. Cancellations & Missed Lessons

Cancellations by the parent/student

  • At least 48 hours’ notice is required to cancel or reschedule a session.

  • Cancellations made with 48 or more hours’ notice may be rescheduled at my discretion, subject to availability. This is not guaranteed.

  • Cancellations made with less than 48 hours’ notice will be forfeited. The session fee remains payable, and no refund will be issued.

  • If a student does not attend a session without any notice, the session is forfeited with no refund or reschedule.

Illness allowance
I understand that children get ill. One illness cancellation per block may be rescheduled if I have availability, provided you let me know before the session’s scheduled start time. Additional illness cancellations within the same block will be forfeited as standard.

Cancellations by the tutor
If I need to cancel a session, I will give as much notice as possible. The session will be rescheduled at a mutually convenient time. If rescheduling is not possible, a credit will be applied to your next block or a pro-rata refund issued.

Learning materials and homework may still be provided for any missed session to help maintain progress.

4. Late Arrivals
Sessions begin and end at the scheduled time. If a student arrives late, the session will not be extended to compensate for lost time.

If a student has not arrived within 15 minutes of the session start time and no prior notice has been given, I may treat the session as a no-show (see Section 3 above).

If I am running late, I will let you know as soon as possible and will either extend the session or credit the lost time to your next lesson.

5. Holidays & Availability
Tuition follows the school term calendar. Sessions do not take place during school holidays or on bank holidays unless specifically agreed in advance.

I will share a schedule of planned breaks and availability at the start of each term so you can plan ahead. If I need to take any unplanned absence, affected sessions will be rescheduled or credited.

6. Refunds
Refunds are not issued for missed sessions, late cancellations, or mid-block withdrawals.

A pro-rata refund will be issued only if I am unable to deliver the remaining sessions in a block and rescheduling is not possible.

In genuinely exceptional circumstances (such as extended illness or family bereavement), I am happy to discuss options on a case-by-case basis.

7. Approach to Learning
Every child is given time to be properly assessed through ongoing lessons rather than relying on a single initial assessment. This allows me to build a clear and accurate picture of your child’s strengths, gaps, and learning style.

If, after a reasonable period, I feel that tuition is not the right fit for your child’s particular needs, I will discuss this with you openly and may suggest alternative support options.

8. Homework & Parental Support
Homework is an essential part of every programme. It reinforces learning between sessions and helps maintain momentum. Students are expected to complete all assigned homework on time.

Parental support in establishing a regular homework routine is important — particularly for younger children. If homework is consistently incomplete, it will affect the pace of progress, and I may need to discuss this with you.  Each homework will need to be returned before the beginning of the next lesson for marking and reviewing.

9. Student Expectations
Students are expected to:

  • Attend all scheduled sessions on time

  • Engage fully and participate actively in lessons

  • Complete homework and any assigned tasks

  • Maintain a positive and respectful attitude

  • Treat the tutor, other students (if applicable), and learning materials with respect

If a student’s behavior is persistently disruptive or disrespectful, I will raise this with parents in the first instance. If the issues continue, I reserve the right to end the tuition arrangement. In such cases, any remaining prepaid sessions will be refunded on a pro-rata basis.

10. Online Lessons
Where sessions take place online, the following additional expectations apply:

  • Students must have access to a reliable internet connection, a device with a camera and microphone, and any required software or apps

  • Students should join using their correct name and keep their camera on throughout the session (unless otherwise agreed)

  • Sessions must not be recorded, screenshotted, shared, or distributed in any form

  • Parents may need to provide supervision for younger students to help them stay focused

If persistent technical issues prevent effective learning, I may recommend switching to in-person sessions or pausing until the issues are resolved.

11. Safeguarding & Responsibility
All sessions are conducted in a safe, professional, and supportive environment. I am committed to the welfare of every student.
Parents must inform me of any relevant medical conditions, learning needs, allergies, or other important information before sessions begin, and of any changes that arise during the course of tuition.

While I will always do my best to support your child’s progress, I cannot guarantee specific academic outcomes. Results depend on consistent attendance, effort in sessions, homework completion, and support at home.

12. Learning Materials
All resources, worksheets, and materials I provide are for your child’s personal educational use only. They must not be copied, shared, distributed, or used for commercial purposes.

13. Use of Images & Student Work
From time to time, I may wish to use anonymised examples of student work or session activities for professional purposes, such as on my website or in learning materials.

No photographs, names, or identifiable student work will ever be used without prior written permission from the parent or guardian. You may withdraw consent at any time.

14. Data Protection & Privacy
I collect and store personal information (such as names, contact details, and learning needs) solely for the purpose of providing tuition and communicating with parents.

Your information will not be shared with any third party without your consent, except where I am legally required to do so (for example, in the case of a safeguarding concern).

You may request to view, amend, or delete your personal data at any time by contacting me directly.

15. Liability
I am not liable for the loss or damage of any personal belongings brought to in-person sessions. Please ensure your child does not bring valuable items that are not needed for the lesson.

I take reasonable care to provide a safe learning environment, but I am not responsible for incidents outside my direct control.

16. Ending Tuition
By the parent: A minimum of 2 weeks’ written notice is required. Fees for the current block remain payable in full. If notice is given mid-block, tuition will continue to the end of that block.

By the tutor: I may end the arrangement with 2 weeks’ notice for general reasons, or immediately in cases of serious misconduct or safeguarding concerns. Any unused prepaid sessions will be refunded on a pro-rata basis.

17. Changes to These Terms
These terms may be updated from time to time. I will give you at least 14 days’ written notice of any material changes. Continued attendance after the notice period constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

The most current version of these terms will always be available on the Abi Tutoring website.

18. Agreement
By enrolling your child for tuition with Abi Tutoring, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to these terms and conditions.

If you have any questions about these terms, please don’t hesitate to contact me before your child’s first session.
